UPWARD BOUND SUMMER RECAP!
What a summer it has been for our Upward Bound students! Over six weeks, students had the opportunity to learn, travel, explore college campuses, discover careers, and make memories that will last far beyond the summer.
Learning & STEM: Students took a summer class through Shasta College and worked on hands-on coding and STEM projects using STEM Kits, with Mr. Z helping guide students through their projects.
Week 2 – Sacramento: Students spent the week living in the dorms at Sacramento State, giving them a firsthand experience of college life. They toured American River College, visited the Sacramento State Planetarium, and toured Google and Apple, learning about different pathways to college and careers.
Week 6 – Southern California: Students continued their college and career exploration with visits to San Diego State University and San Juan Capistrano. They also explored the San Diego Zoo, walked along the Santa Monica Pier, visited Hollywood, and took in the views and science at the Griffith Observatory.
To finish an incredible summer, students spent their final travel day at Disneyland!
From staying in college dorms and exploring universities to learning about STEM careers and experiencing new places, our students stepped outside their comfort zones and made the most of every opportunity.
HUGE shout out to our FRHS Upward Bound Advisors, teachers, parents and community for supporting these students!

-Buy ASB Cards, Yearbooks and any necessary class/shop fees
-Visit our Club Rush event to see all that is available to get involved in at FRHS
-Enjoy dinner hosted by the FR Boosters
